Attached JMP TELECONFERENCE MINUTES January 23, 1997 Participants: Ron Bergman - Dataproducts Keith Carter - IBM Mabry Dozier - QMS Tom Hastings - Xerox Harry Lewis - IBM Bob Pentecost - HP Lloyd Young - Lexmark Tom Hastings announced that the draft of the Printer Jobs MIB was completed but he has not tried to compile the document. The consensus was that the document should be distributed for review ASAP and resolve any problems concerning compilation at a later date. Tom agreed to post the MIB draft before the end of the day. Seven comparisons of the Job MIB to current private implementations have been loaded to the PWG FTP server. Ron Bergman put together a quick summary of the results. This summary did not include HP, since this data was not available until an hour before the start of the meeting. Ron will update the summary and distribute the result by Monday next week. The objects with no private MIB usage were discussed. (Group indexes were ignored.) Tom Hastings proposed that these objects should be considered as candidates for removal. These items should be reviewed again after the comparison summary is available. jmGeneralQueuingAlgorithm jmJobMessageToOperator Tom Hastings proposed that jmJobDeviceNameRequested could be expanded to include the queue. Xerox will most likely use this object to define the "Logical Printer" selected. In a similar manner, Dataproducts has an object used to define the "Virtual Printer" selected. Harry Lewis proposed that jmJobSubmissionTime be moved to the Queue Group. This object could not be implemented in devices that do not support queuing. Considerable discussion occurred regarding the Resources Group and the jmResourceType enums. This group appears to require additional work. This is a good topic for the D.L. and/or the next teleconference. Harry Lewis indicated that an object was needed to define "where is my job located" (or where can I find the job when it is completed). There will be another teleconference to continue these discussions on Thursday, January 30. The time, phone number and access code will be the same.
